Growing up in Zagreb, Vanja discovered Heavy Metal and eventually the extreme sounds of Death and Black Metal. Music became a constant in his life – even when making music itself didn't.

After years of playing in different bands, frustration eventually led Vanja to sell his guitar and stop making music. Six years later, already in his 40s, he found his way back. At the same time, the pressure surrounding his PhD pushed him to a point where his seemingly successful life no longer felt successful at all.

We talk about finding his way back to Metal, individuality, personal struggles and how difficult experiences gradually became material for his music.

Vanja also speaks about losing his dog, the grief that followed and how those experiences transformed songs about inner demons, depression and fighting your way back.
