Imagination und Bewegung in Butoh
Episode von Fem Poem · 2. September 2025 · 1 h 00 min
English translation:
The program begins with an essay by Romina Achatz on the creative potential of imagination and movement. It then turns to an etymological exploration of the words imagination, movement, and Butoh. From there, the journey leads to Yoshito Ohno, who once compared the body to bamboo—hollow, permeable, and empty. This image opens into a reflection on the Japanese character Mu, signifying both emptiness and dancer.
FEM POEM then delves into Butoh-Fu by Tatsumi Hijikata, exploring poetic notations and imaginal transformations, and continues with practices by Yoshito Ohno as well as contemporary approaches by choreographer Minako Seki.
The broadcast concludes with a poetic epilogue on the power of imagination—as a source of empathy, transformation, and radical vitality.
