Yayoi Kusama – Into Infinity
Dots, pumpkins, endless nets and mirrored rooms: Yayoi Kusama created one of the most recognisable artistic universes of our time.
In this first English episode of artaffairs, we follow Kusama from her childhood in Japan and her early hallucinations to the New York avant-garde of the 1960s, her encounters with artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe, Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg, and the immersive Infinity Rooms that made her a global phenomenon.
The occasion is Kusama’s major retrospective at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam – the final stop of the exhibition’s European journey.
But this episode has also become a farewell. Yayoi Kusama died in Tokyo on August 14, 2026, at the age of 97.
A story about art as survival, the dissolution of the self, and an artist who spent her life trying to make infinity visible.
Love Forever.
